The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department investigated an incident involving a firearm

Date and Time:  Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 3:45 pm

Location:  E. Baseline Rd., Chippewa Township, Isabella County, Michigan

Subjects Involved:
Uninjured Victim is an 18 year old I/M
Suspect is an 86 year old W/M

Information:  A verbal argument between an 86 y/o Mt. Pleasant man and an 18 y/o Mt. Pleasant man turned into a felonious assault. After an argument between both subjects, the suspect felt threatened while inside the home.  The suspect went to his room and retrieved a .22 handgun. The suspect pointed the hand gun at the victim with the intent of scaring him. The victim pushed the handgun away.  The suspect had his finger on the trigger and when the firearm was pushed away it went off inside the home, leaving a small bullet sized hole in the living room floor. The victim and suspect then struggled over the hand gun and the victim took the hand gun from the suspect with help of family.   The victim is the great-grandson of the suspect.  The victim is a descendant of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and suspect is of Caucasian decent. The Feds will be prosecuting the case.
