Update - Isabella County Sheriff Department is Investigating a Flee and Elude

SDPR MS THayterArrested driver:  Thomas Delane-Larue Hayter, 21 years old from Mt. Pleasant, MI

Mr. Hayter was arraigned on the following charges:
Home invasion, possession of burglary tools, flee and elude a police officer, motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended/revoked/denied, receiving & concealing stolen property, breaking & entering a vehicle to steal property and malicious destruction of property.

He remains lodged in the Isabella County Jail on a bond of $70,000.00/10% cash-surety.

SDPR MS CJohnsonArrested passenger:  Corey Dwayne Johnson, 17 years old from Mt. Pleasant, MI

Mr. Johnson was arraigned on the following charges:
Home invasion, possession of burglary tools, motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, receiving & concealing stolen property, breaking & entering a vehicle to steal property and malicious destruction of property.

He remains lodged in the Isabella County Jail on a bond of $70,000.00/10% cash-surety.


 Date and Time of Incident: October 14, 2014 at 2:35 am.

Location of Incident:  Pursuit started from 5000 block of South Lincoln Rd, and went south about 6 miles to East Remick Road. Suspect vehicle then turned east on Remick Road and went one mile to South Crawford Road and turned south. Vehicle continued another half-mile and entered into Gratiot County, on now Warner Road. Vehicle continued south another 6 miles to the intersection of Warner and Lincoln Roads, where vehicle lost control and went into a bean field.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody.

Vehicle(s) Involved: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, grey in color

Driver of Vehicle: Names to be released upon arraignment

Investigation Revealed: The Isabella County Sheriff Dept. was dispatched to a UDAA of a motor vehicle on south Lincoln Road. Deputies noticed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle pass by the victims residence. Deputies then pursued the vehicle into Gratiot County, where the vehicle crashed into a bean field and became disabled.

The driver and a passenger were arrested, and are awaiting arraignment on numerous criminal charges, including UDAA, Receive and conceal stolen property, Driving on suspended license, Home Invasion, Larceny from motor vehicles, Possession of Marijuana.

The vehicle contained numerous stolen items that were reported stolen from Chase Run Apts.

Injuries: No one was hurt during the incident

Was Alcohol or Other Drugs a Factor: Driver possibly under the influence of marijuana

Assisting Agencies: Gratiot County Sheriff Department.

The case remains under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.
