Date and Time: June 5, 2014 at approximately 6:05 pm

Location of Incident: 6000 block of S. Vandecar Rd, Fremont Twp, Isabella County

Investigation Revealed:
Subjects selling vacuum cleaners approached a residence in the 6000 block of S. Vandecar Rd., knocked on the door and observed a male approach the door without opening it and gestured “one minute” by holding one index finger up.  He then walked away towards the garage.  The two salesmen became suspicious as to what the suspect was doing and decided to leave.  As they got into their van and drove down the driveway, the suspect emerged from a pole barn located next to the residence and brandished a long gun.  Two shots were heard by the three males in the van as they saw the suspect pointing the gun at them as they drove away.  One of the victims reported hearing the pellets “whiz” by his open driver’s side window.

A 61 yr old male was arrested for three counts of felonious assault with a firearm and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.  He is currently lodged at the Isabella County Jail with no bond.

It is believed the suspect used a 20 gauge shotgun in the incident which was recovered on scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation. The suspect’s name will not be released until he has been arraigned later this afternoon.

No one was injured in the incident.
