Hit and Run Injury Accident - May 1, 2014 at 2:03 p.m.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit and run accident that occurred this afternoon at 2:03 p.m. on northbound US 127, just north of Herrick Rd.  The hit & run pickup ran into a trailer that was being pulled by the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup.  Samuel James Fowler lost control, crossed through the left lane and ran off the road in the median.  The pickup ended up rolling.  Mr. Fowler had to be extricated and was flown to Spectrum Hospital by Aero Med. 

Date and Time:  The incident occurred on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at approximately 2:03 p.m.

Location: Northbound US 127, just north of Herrick Rd., Vernon Township.

Vehicle(s) Involved:

  1. Hit & Run vehicle: Ford F-250 pickup, either silver or gray in color.  The year of the pickup is unknown, but it appeared to be from the 2004-2006 model years.  The pickup will have damage on the front passenger side bumper.      
  2. 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup pulling a trailer.  It was driven by Samuel James Fowler, 84 years old from Engadine, MI.

Injuries: The extent of Mr. Fowler’s injuries is unknown at this time.

Assisted by: Isabella County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Clare Police Department, Michigan State Police, MMR, Clare Fire Department and Aero Med.

Please contact the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department if you see a silver or gray Ford F-250 with front end damage on the front passenger-side bumper.

The incident is still under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.
