Head-On Collission - February 20, 2014 at 8:34 p.m.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-car head-on collision on M-20 (Remus Rd.), just west of Littlefield Rd.  Elizabeth Poyer was traveling westbound when she tried to pass two other westbound vehicles.  She did not have enough time to pass both vehicles and ended up striking a car driven by James Stork.  Mr. Stork was traveling eastbound.  Both subjects had to be extricated from their cars.  

Both drivers sustained serious injuries; however the exact extent is unknown at this time.  Alcohol was believed to be a factor, with regard to Ms. Poyer. Both drivers were wearing restraints.

M-20 (Remus Rd.) had to be shut down and traffic was re-routed until the crash investigation was completed.

Location:  The accident occurred on M-20 west (Remus Rd.) near Littlefield Rd., Deerfield Township, Isabella County.

Vehicle Involved: 

  1. 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Elizabeth Gilbert Poyer, 26 years old from Grand Haven, MI
  2. 2001 Ford Taurus driven by James Richard Stork, 19 years old from Stanwood, MI

Assisted By:  The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police, Deerfield Township Fire Department, Millbrook-Rolland Fire Department, Fremont Township Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response (MMR).


The crash remains under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.
