Parks Staff have been working to remove dying ash trees throughout Coldwater Lake Family Park and Herrick Recreation Area. The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has partnered with Isabella County Parks and the City of Mt. Pleasant to apply (and receive) a grant for $126,000 from the EPA Shoreline Restoration/Protection grant. Isabella County will receive $25,000 of the $126,000 for tree removal/replacement due to invasive species and river bank restoration and erosion prevention. Funds are from the Forestry Division and have been awarded based on the need to remove dead and dying trees within public and Tribal areas within stream corridors.
