Notice of Vacancy - Prosecuting Attorney

Isabella County Prosecuting Attorney

There is a vacancy for the position of Isabella County Prosecuting Attorney due to the resignation of current Prosecuting Attorney, Risa Hunt-Scully. Her Term expires at the end of 2020.

Pursuant to MCL 168.209(1), the vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the judge or judges of that judicial circuit, which are Chief Judge Paul H. Chamberlain and Judge Mark H. Duthie. MCL 168.209(3) requires that after the appointment, an election to fill the unexpired term be held at the 2018 general election since the vacancy occurred more than 7 days before the nomination petition filing deadline. Under MCL 168.191(1), in order to be eligible for the office of Prosecuting Attorney, a person must have been a resident of Isabella County for at least 30 days by April 24, 2018.

Public interviews will be held for selected candidates on March 14 and 15, 2018 in Room 320, Isabella County Building. If selected, applicants will be notified of their interview time.
